7 effective ways to work from home during a coronavirus outbreak

Due to the spread of Covid-19, employees are now continuing their work from home, as more and more companies are applying home-based policies. While working from home may seem like a luxury in theory, it's definitely not a holiday, and you have the efficiency to be productive. Every job is different, it will differ between employers and internal policies, but you should know some basic strategies for working from home to perform your tasks efficiently.

1. Stick to Your Routine

Whether you go to work does not mean that you have to skip your preparations in the morning on business days. Wake up in normal time, take a shower and wear real clothes (not pajamas!). It may sound trivial, but this will help you mentally prepare for the next day and get into the "I'll work" mentality. It is also useful to keep a specific schedule. If you usually work nine to five hours, keep doing it at home. It's easy to lose track of time, and if you can't stick to a typical work-life balance, you can easily see yourself lying on the sofa.

2. Create a Workspace

While it may be tempting to stay in bed or go to your couch, those who work successfully from home agree that you are best at building a station. If you don't have a table, use the dining table. In addition to making you feel like you are in an "office", this will help you take care of a good posture, avoid distractions and complete your work at the end of the day.

3. Don't Just Sit There in Your Workspace

Sitting all day is not healthy, even if you are in the office, but working from home means you have less reason to skip commute and get out of your chair during the day. Make sure to stand up regularly to do stretching movements or to move.

You can devote 1-2 hours to work and commute to work out at home. It can also help you feel like you're not stuck all day.

4 Get Some Fresh Air

You will probably spend a lot of time inside, as many experts call on their employees to stay at home to prevent the spread of the disease. Open your windows or spend some time on your balcony to get as much natural sunlight and fresh air as possible. This will contribute to your well-being.

5 Stay in Touch with Your Colleagues

If you work with a team, be sure to stay in touch regularly, just like in the office. Create to-do lists to keep yourself organized and focused and share the status of your lists with your colleagues so you will see your work progressing more accurately. It is also a good idea to set up regular meetings via phone or video conferencing, such as Skype, FaceTime or Zoom.

6. If You Have Children Prepare for Disruptions

It is hard enough to do business if you have children at home, but it gets harder with young children like babies and toddlers. Still, it's not impossible if you're planning ahead and having some flexibility. If you have young children, you can contact your company to synchronize your working hours according to your child's sleeping hours. You can explain the situation to your children who have grown up a little, and if you treat them like an individual, they will meet you quite correctly. You can also save some more time by learning new events or new games.
